For those of you who don't know Evie ... this is Evie Matthews.
I had the pleasure of watching this guy and his partner, Hill, tear through the Qualifier this past Friday at the AVP Hermosa Beach Open. I was there and grabbed a few snap-shots of action. Evie is a very close friend of the Hydens and I'm glad we met several years ago. You won't find a cooler guy off the court or a more fierce competitor on the sand. Evie works hard (um, he's ripped out of his mind) and has my complete respect after coming back from multiple tears and fractures in his knee.

He and his partner had a tough draw on Saturday morning and had to face Jake Gibb & Sean Rosenthal in the first round of play. Despite hecklers and almost zero support as the underdogs, Matthews and Hill played their game and went down swinging.

Evie, I hope you get some use out of these sick shots. You're an animal out there.
